Partnering host communities is a primary platform for GOGE's licence to operate peacefully.

GOGE places significant importance on its local operations, and will pursue the following:

Employees: to be drawn predominantly from host communities.

Contract Services: most to be provided by registered and successfully qualified contractors from host communities.

Compensation for land: to be based on the Nigerian Oil Producers Trade Section rates which are acceptable to local landowners

Regular interaction: to keep host communities informed of and involved with developments in the field.

In 2006/2007, a 5-year Participatory Community Development Initiative was launched with ProNatura (www.pronatura-nigeria.org) to fit with NDDC's Regional Master Plan:

  • $500,000 committed by GOGE for Participatory Rural Appraisal and to produce a development plan.
  • First community project launched - a rural road transportation system implemented in the form of  2 community buses which went into service in Winter 2007 and the building of a road to the Uquo well site.
